Why Obama’s Ratings Are Sinking

President Obama should be riding high in the polls right now. As candidate, he promised the American people he would revive the ailing economy through unprecedented public spending and task government with fixing the U.S. healthcare system. He has been keeping his end of the bargain, delivering on the first promise and trying valiantly on the second. And the economy is improving, at least a little. So why are his approval numbers falling instead of rising? Even worse, why are legislators seeing open protest at townhall meetings as they try to explain the administration’s policies to citizens?

The answer, in a nutshell, is that Americans simply don’t trust the government, and they believe that the current free-spending policies are hurting their future. Nothing will turn Americans against you faster than messing with their future. Here are the data.
