Government Planning Is Back

After going through the Waxman-Markey climate and energy bill, at least one thing is clear: government planning is back, big time. Literally. The word “planning” appears a whopping 69 times in the bill.  Steve Hayward will have much more to say about Waxman-Markey soon, but it is difficult not to conclude that a carbon tax would be far preferable—simpler, more efficient, easier to implement, and fairer—to the mind-numbingly complex piece of government planning now being considered on Capitol Hill.
